Meanwell power supply: dual power redundancy application of LED display screen

The existing display screen is usually powered by a single power supply. Once the power supply fails, the image can not be displayed normally, which seriously affects the visual effect. However, the replacement of power supply and maintenance on site will affect the activity. Therefore, the reliability of LED full-color display screen is upgraded: the power supply and signal backup system adopts "1 + 1" parallel redundancy design.


The following is a brief description of redundant applications:


The traditional redundant power supply connection method is that two or more power supplies are connected in series with diodes at the positive end to output to the power bus in parallel, as shown in Fig. 2. It can make one power supply work alone or multiple power supplies work at the same time. When one of the power supplies fails, the output of the power bus will not be affected due to the unidirectional conduction characteristics of the diode.

Now the new redundant power supply scheme is to use high-power MOSFET to replace the diode in the circuit in Fig. 2. Due to the small conduction resistance of the MOSFET, which can reach several m Ω, the voltage drop loss is greatly reduced. In the application circuit, the MOSFET is controlled by a professional chip, which not only realizes a more efficient solution, but also can connect a smaller radiator, which reduces the space of the radiator Considering the power supply, the total cost of the system is saved.


Meanwell's new lsp-160 series uses MOSFET to replace the diode parallel mode in the traditional circuit, and adopts professional chip control, which can realize the application of redundancy + parallel current sharing.
